David G. Hall, M.D. Memorial Scholarship
The Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians Foundation Board of Trustees established the David G. Hall, M. D. Memorial Scholarship to award scholarships to Mississippi high school seniors who have an aptitude in the sciences and an interest in pursuing a career in the field of medicine. Interested students may write a 500-word essay titled, “The Family Physician: Providing Your Medical Home” and submit it to their school counselor. Each school may submit one winning essay to the Foundation for entry in the State contest. The essay should describe the impact of their personal Family Physician in their life and/or the role of the Family Physician in his or her community.

Letter received from Cindy, Dugan, mother of David G. Hall, MD Memorial Scholarship 2007 Recipient
Dear Miss. Academy of Family Physicians,
I wanted to update you on one of your former recipients of the David G. Hall, M.D. Memorial Scholarship. My son, Clayton Dugan, was awarded this very prestigious scholarship in 2007. Clayton has attended Miss. State University for the past four years and will graduate in May with a biomedical engineering degree. He has been accepted to the UMC medical school and will begin his studies in August.
Your scholarship played a very important role in the funding for Clayton’s undergraduate studies. Please know the Dugan family will be eternally grateful for your monetary support and encouragement for Clayton. The David G. Hall M.D. Memorial Scholarship allowed Clayton to pursue studies for his life-long aspiration to become a physician.
Best wishes as you continue to encourage and reward Mississippi seniors striving to obtain medical undergraduate studies.
Sincerely,
Cindy Dugan
Grenada, MS
